The Sheboygan Project

Like I mentioned in my last post, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center is always trying to connect the community with art in amazing ways. One of their latest endeavors is The Sheboygan Project. The Sheboygan Project is what came of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center working closely with the Wooster Collective. The Wooster Collective started as a website showcasing different street artists in a variety of different mediums- like cardboard art and guerilla gardening. With the Sheboygan Project, the Wooster Collective and JMKAC are bringing street art to sheboygan with artists Chris Stain, Gabriel Specter, Jessie Unterhalter & Katey Truhn, along a few other artists.

Here is a picture of artists Jessie Unterhalter & Katey Truhn working with some volunteers from Sheboygan to create something truly amazing- a collaborative work! I love that they're getting the community involved and creating something to be proud of.

Artist Chris Stain uses overhead projectors to project his images on the wall, so he has to work at night- probably more advantageous really, keeping in mind how ridiculously hot and humid it's been.

A volunteer helps with the Gabriel Specter piece on a bridge support.

This is the other side of the bridge. Someone complained that they should have cleaned the rust spots off of there but I think that would have really detracted from the work. It shows that the space has had a past life. Plus I think rust is really cool and sort of industrially beautiful.

I'm so happy that the JMKAC and the Wooster Collective are bringing street art to Sheboygan. Come and see it!
